For example, with MyEclipse for Spring, instead of myeclipse.ini, you will see myeclipseforspring.ini. Some files may have a slightly different name, depending on the edition of MyEclipse that you install. For the sake of simplicity, the example “MyEclipse 9” is used here. The string “ ” refers to the folder from which MyEclipse is executed. The string ” ” refers to the directory or folder under which the components of pulse and/or MyEclipse are installed. The string, “” refers to the ID that is used to log into the system.
There are other possibilities, installing using an update site from a classic eclipse install or installing using the Secure Delivery Center product those cases aren’t covered here though, in those cases, the installation folder structure ends up being not much different from a base eclipse install.
This post assumes that you’ve accepted the default locations when installing Pulse and/or MyEclipse, in three different installation scenarios: installing from a separate offline or online installer (without Pulse having been installed), installing through Pulse, and installing from a separate installer but with Pulse already installed. For later releases, see earlier posts in this topic.

Note that the full default OS path to the folder containing the “ eclipse.ini” configuration file is: “ /Applications/MyEclipse 2017/MyEclipse 2017.app/Contents/Profile“.įurther, note that for releases between MyEclipse 10.x and MyEclipse 2016, the installed structure is a bit more complex than shown above the full default OS path to the folder containing the “ myeclipse” executable, for release 2015, and the “ myeclipse.ini” configuration file was: “ /Applications/MyEclipse 2015/MyEclipse 2015.app/Contents/Profile/myeclipse.app/Contents/MacOS“. The installation location recorded is the “ Profile” folder mentioned above. deliverycenter.installs” file contains the installation location of the MyEclipse editions that have been installed. myeclipse.properties” file contains the licence and activation information. However, a couple of files are worth noting. These contain metadata about the installation and configuration and do not normally need to concern the user. There are also some files in the user’s home folder. The configuration file (named “myeclipse.ini” on other systems) is often edited by the user to alter memory settings or to specify a different Java vm to use to run MyEclipse. Open the “ Profile” folder to see the main components of the installation and the configuration file, “ eclipse.ini“. Open the “ MacOS” folder the see the actual MyEclipse executable, myeclipse. Open this folder to see various subfolders, which comprise the MyEclipse application. To see the contents of the application, right click on the entry (“ MyEclipse 2017“) and select “Show Package Contents”. An application can be made up of many files and folders.
The main item in the folder is the “ MyEclipse 2017” application.Ī Mac application is not simply an executable file. There is also an uninstall application – double-click to uninstall MyEclipse. Within that installation folder, you will find a drop-ins folder which can be used as a standard eclipse drop-ins folder for installing some plug-ins. For other MyEclipse streams, the application folder might have a slightly different default name. The default location for the installation is “ /Applications/MyEclipse 2017“, if you changed this at installation time, please adjust this information appropriately. This information was written from an installation of MyEclipse 2017 Stable on a Mac system with Sierra operating system installed (OS X 10.12.5).
